Dear Friend,
Every child has the right to learn. But for millions of children, access to a quality education is still out of reach.
Mohamed, a 13-year-old from Syria, was one of those children. He endured years of brutal war, including an explosion that left him missing part of his right arm and several fingers on his left hand. His family was forced to leave their home for a makeshift camp, where the nearest school was an hour’s walk away along unsafe roads.
But everything changed last year when Mohamed enrolled in an innovative self-learning program funded by UNICEF.
He had access to lessons, trained teachers and the chance to catch up on the years of education he had lost. He built a study schedule, reviewed his homework each night and even began helping his younger brothers. |
