Dear Reader,
One thing that makes America’s election system unique is that states and localities control nearly every aspect of how elections are run. At the local level, some election information may only be published at the local clerk’s office (and not on any website).
One way we are able to find this information is through our Volunteers and Fellows. Our Volunteer and Fellows Program, launched in 2020, provides virtual volunteer opportunities for students. Today, it’s essential to our election coverage.
In 2026, we expect to more than double our volunteer program with over 1,100 volunteers contributing 15,000 hours of work and adding 20,000 new data attributes. Their efforts allow our paid staff to focus on deeper research, direct outreach to election officials, and expansion into new states and topics.
Your gift of $100 or a monthly gift of $25 powers this important work — and helps us meet our goal of $10,000 by December 31st.

Sincerely,
