I’ve spent the final weeks of 2025 reflecting on the year—where we started, how far we’ve come, and what comes next.

We started 2025 with a shift of federal power, and we faced an uncertain future. An administration that supported gun safety was replaced by one that cares more about gun industry profits than saving lives. But even then, I never lost hope in the resilience of the American people.

The gun violence prevention movement has overcome bigger obstacles before, and we will again. But our continued success is because of the strength of gun safety advocates, including you.

Despite obstacles we’ve faced, GIFFORDS Law Center has made significant progress in 2025. With the help of our policy experts, 33 states passed 89 new gun safety laws. Our team successfully fought for the support of major law enforcement leaders and police organizations in our work to block a national concealed carry mandate. And our attorneys continue to pursue gun industry accountability in courts across the country.

None of our accomplishments would have been possible without you. It’s because of our big team that we continue to gain momentum. It’s because of you that I remain inspired and motivated to keep fighting for a future free from gun violence.

Looking ahead, I know we aren’t out of the woods yet. Every day presents a new challenge, but GIFFORDS Law Center isn’t backing down. In fact, we’ve never been better positioned to tackle this fight head-on.
