John,

Most folks don’t know this, but while I’m running a full-fledged campaign for Governor, I’m also taking care of my 102-year-old mother.

This care requires attention to details 24/7 about medications, feeding tube nutrition, incontinence, mobility, personal care, emotional well-being, and more --- challenging my desire and good intentions to care for Mom as a loved one rather than as a "patient."

And the truth is, I know I’m not alone. Like so many Californians, I grew up in a working-class family that relied on each other for care, not our bank accounts. This of course is not always easy, and none of us are strangers to taking on roles for which we were never trained to ensure no family member falls through the cracks.

I also know I’m not the only person in California pulling this type of double duty -- and that’s one big reason why I’m running for Governor. I know what working-class and first-generation families need because I’m part of one.

It’s these folks who need help and an advocate to stand with them. That’s why I'm running, and it’s why I need your support.

This is a campaign powered by the caregivers, the people wearing multiple hats, the working families. Can I count on you to chip in today ahead of our final deadline before the election year? In a race that’s going to be as competitive as this one, every single dollar matters.
