I’ll get straight to the point: I’m emailing to ask you to help me defeat Susan Collins and take back the Senate for Democrats by making a donation right now to our campaign.

At midnight on December 31st, our campaign is facing our final federally-mandated FEC deadline of the year. I’m sure you’ve heard about these FEC deadlines before from other campaigns, and there’s a good reason why.

After the new year, federal law requires our campaign to publicly show everyone how much money we’ve raised and from how many donors. Everyone will then pore over our report. Reporters and pundits will talk on cable news about how much we raised. The national Democratic and Republican parties will take notice. Susan Collins and Chuck Schumer will get a look at the grassroots campaign we’ve been building. And folks like AIPAC will be watching, ready to pounce at any sign of weakness.

This FEC deadline isn’t just about meeting a fundraising goal. It will show everyone whether or not we are going to be able to actually take on Susan Collins and win.

Susan Collins is the most vulnerable Republican senator in the country. We can finally defeat Susan Collins, but with time running out before this final FEC deadline, we’re still short of our $500,000 goal. If we’re going to finally send Susan Collins packing and flip Maine blue, I am counting on grassroots donors like you to chip in now to our campaign.
