TELL THE CFPB:
The Trump admin is trying to finalize mass layoffs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). And fears are growing that Trump will simply (and illegally) shut down the agency that Sen. Elizabeth Warren helped found to protect the public from predatory corporations.

Trump continues the work of Elon Musk's DOGE and the far-right Project 2025: gutting the federal government, replacing qualified bureaucrats with MAGA loyalists, and destroying public services. Trump has threatened the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) since the day he took office in January. Project 2025 explicitly called for shutting down the agency, which Senator Elizabeth Warren helped found to protect working people from predatory corporations.1 Musk called to “delete” the agency early this year,2 and there are growing fears that Trump will make the drastic, illegal move to fully shut down the agency. But we have a real chance to save key pieces of the CFPB. There is a government comment period on the CFPB that’s open until December 29, and we need to send in a flood of comments to demand that the agency is protected.3 Sign the petition: Protect the CFPB from Trump, Musk, and Project 2025! The comment deadline is just days away. The comment period focuses on the Consumer Complaints Database, a highly effective tool that allows consumers to submit issues related to financial products and services, facilitates a response from the relevant company, and helps inform the work of the CFPB to protect consumers. The agency has processed over 3 million complaints from consumers fighting back against unfair corporate practices.4 Eliminating the CFPB would result in corporations exploiting consumers with worse predatory fees, interest rates, loan terms, and so much more. It would be a gift to big banks, shady payday loan companies, and the billionaire friends of Trump and Musk. Demand Progress will submit a comment with all of your petition signatures to the CFPB, in order to show support for the important role it plays for so many people. The deadline to submit is 12/29. Sign on today to help us stop Trump’s assault on the CFPB. Sign the petition: Block Trump's illegal attempts to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau! Thanks for taking action,
