MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers and First Lady Kathy Evers today shared a video message wishing Wisconsinites a happy Kwanzaa.
The governor and first lady’s video message is available here, and a transcript of the video message is available below.
Governor: Hello, Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers here. First Lady: And I’m First Lady Kathy Evers. Governor: We just wanted to take a moment today to wish all those celebrating a very happy Kwanzaa. First Lady: Celebrated the seven days leading up to the new year, Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community, and culture. Governor: And during celebrations throughout the United States, families and neighbors will come together to recognize the seven principles of Kwanzaa—unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. First Lady: With the goal of remembering what’s really important: building community, solving problems together, supporting one another, and celebrating culture and community as sources of strength. Governor: These are values we can all share. So, to all those celebrating across Wisconsin, happy Kwanzaa! First Lady: We wish you celebrations full of love, joy, and community.
