John, as we settle into our holiday traditions and get ready to gather with loved ones, we wanted to share a little joy from Children's Hospital Los Angeles—a heartwarming reminder of what your support makes possible.

Hogan, from CHLA's Amerman Family Foundation Dog Therapy Program
Everything felt uncertain for 14-year-old Truman when he arrived at CHLA. He had just received a leukemia diagnosis; it was a shock for his whole family.
Then, a golden retriever named Hogan from the Amerman Family Foundation Dog Therapy Program at CHLA padded into Truman's hospital room, sidled up next to him, and fell asleep. "They were instant soulmates," says Claudia, Truman's mom. "We have dogs at home, and that connection is not like this."
That instant connection was strengthened by an additional bond Truman and Hogan shared: They were both recently diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment.
Every Saturday morning during Truman's chemotherapy, Hogan returned to keep him company—watching shows by his side, nudging his grey-flecked muzzle under his arms for a snuggle, napping, and just being there for Truman.
This summer, Truman rang his end-of-treatment bell. And Hogan rang his shortly after. Two friends, healing side by side, their bond helping them make it to the other side of treatment.
Your generosity makes moments like this possible: the expert care, the gentle support, the spark of hope that carries patients and their families through the darkest of days.
From all of us at CHLA, thank you for bringing light to the lives of so many children. We wish you a joyful and peaceful holiday season. ♥️
Happy holidays,
The CHLA Team
