John,

As the year winds down, I wanted to take a moment to reach out.

I know this time of year looks different for everyone. Some folks are celebrating Christmas, some are marking Hanukkah and other holidays, and some are just trying to catch their breath before the new year begins. However you’re spending this season, I hope it brings you a little warmth and a little rest.

This year has been a heavy one for a lot of people. I hear it everywhere I go — from families worried about housing, health care, and making ends meet, to families being torn apart by the cruelty and chaos of Trump’s policies. But I also hear something else: a deep care for one another and a real desire to do better.

That’s what keeps me going.

I believe the year ahead can be different. I believe we can choose leaders who show up with empathy and with a backbone. I believe we can protect our democracy, lower costs for families, and build a future that feels fairer and more hopeful. And I believe that together, we can start moving our country in a brighter direction.

None of this happens overnight. It takes showing up. It takes listening. And it takes people who refuse to give in to cynicism, even when it’s tempting.

As we head into the new year, I’m feeling grounded, determined, and grateful — grateful for the trust Vermonters have placed in me, and for the community of people who believe that politics can still be about care, courage, and responsibility.

Thank you for being part of this. I’m proud to be in this fight with you, and I’m hopeful about what we can build together in the year ahead.

I’ll still be doing the work like always, though Wheelie will no doubt be doing his best to steal a little extra attention from Elizabeth, our kids, and me as the year winds down.

Wishing you peace and warmth this season—

Becca
