Far too many Americans are struggling to make rent or find a home they can afford, John. The problem is not that people are out of work: unemployment is still relatively low (if rising). The problem is that people are working, and they still can’t afford a place to live. There are simply not enough homes, and prices are skyrocketing. I intend to do something about it — here’s how: I just introduced the Housing BOOM Act, my plan to help increase the supply and accessibility of affordable housing. We need to jumpstart a housing boom in America and massively increase the supply of new homes. We need to bring urgency to the construction of vast numbers of new homes. And ensure that the workers who build that housing can live in the communities where they work. Nothing less will address the crisis of housing unaffordability in America. This is legislation that would make a massive new investment in building affordable homes for middle income and lower income families to make it possible for young people to own a home or be able to pay their rent. After WWII, we built millions of new homes for returning GI’s. We did it quickly and affordably. And we can do it again. If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: This is the type of bold, pragmatic legislation we need to be passing to make a real difference for families across the country. And Democrats need to lead the way — while Republicans fight amongst themselves. With your support, we’ll make it happen. Thank you, Adam
