December Young Dem of the Month

Congratulations to our December Young Dem of the Month, Bernard Herk! Bernard serves as Vice President of the Hudson County Young Democrats and President of the Jersey City Young Democrats, where he focuses on empowering the next generation of leaders and unifying young voices across the county.

Bernard is a dedicated community advocate and rising political leader from Jersey City, where he grew up in the West Side’s Marion Gardens Complex. He has worked on numerous local campaigns and is deeply committed to uplifting the voices of his community through civic engagement and public service.

With a passion for accountability, opportunity, and progress, Bernard is driven by a vision of a stronger, more equitable Hudson County — especially for the Jersey City residents he proudly calls neighbors and family. Join us in congratulating Bernard on being on this month's Young Dem of the Month!

YDA Winter Meeting

From December 5th to 7th, Young Democrats from across the country gathered in Omaha, Nebraska, for the Young Democrats of America (YDA) Winter Meeting, hosted by the Nebraska Young Democrats (NYD). We’re incredibly grateful to NYD for their outstanding hospitality and for organizing such a meaningful and energizing weekend.

This Winter Meeting was especially significant as it marked President Fatima Heyward’s first meeting hosted as YDA President. Under her leadership, the weekend was filled with impactful workshops, meaningful networking, and strategic planning as we laid the groundwork for the year ahead.

As 2025 wraps up, President Heyward and the YDA Executive Board are ready to take everything we’ve learned and move forward with even greater momentum in the new year. Together, we’re building power, strengthening our movement, and preparing to meet the moment head-on.
