To no one’s surprise, the current occupant of the White House just cannot
keep Jasmine’s name out of his mouth.

After all, she is a powerful, accomplished Black woman, and his to-do list
seems to be short: 1. Play golf. 2. Attack Black women — from Jasmine
Crockett and Tish James to me to Ilhan Omar.

None of us are intimidated by his insults.

But the plain reality is that running for office as a Black woman —
against Donald Trump’s Republican Party — comes with specific scrutiny,
challenges, and threats.

And even though plenty of people love to see us fight back — even though
they’ll encourage us to stay on offense — they won’t always be there to
come to our defense when the attacks grow even more vile as a result. Even
more dehumanizing. Even more dangerous.

Because Jasmine is such a firm fighter, the far right has made her a top
target of disgusting disinformation campaigns. She gets hit with false
smears, she becomes the “star” of fake, AI-generated videos, and her
higher profile comes with a higher threat level.

Things have only gotten worse since she announced her run. But we are not
going to leave her to face them alone. We will work together to make sure
Texans have a Senator who actually gives a damn — who fights for justice,
for working people, and for the truth.
