eoy 2025

Dear Friend,

In 2025, we got a lot of stuff done. That’s what we’re all about in Michigan. We take care of our family, our friends, and our community. We work together to build a brighter future.

This year, we:

* Eliminated state taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security.
* Secured the largest roads deal in Michigan history, $2 billion more every year to fix the damn state AND local roads.
* Provided free pre-K and community college for all.
* Fed all 1.4 million public school students free breakfast and lunch.
* Protected quality, affordable health care for millions who get their insurance through Medicaid.
* Built more affordable housing, met our goal of 75,000 homes a full year ahead of schedule, and upped that goal for next year.

Check out more of our 2025 accomplishments below.

Sincerely,

2025 Accomplishments

Lowering Costs, Cutting Taxes for Working Families

costs 2

This year, we made life more affordable for our students, for workers, and for seniors by:

* Eliminating state taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security, so millions of Michiganders can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks. Together, these tax cuts will put hundreds of millions of dollars back in people’s pockets, helping workers keep more of what they’ve earned.
* Saving students thousands on college or trade school with Michigan Reconnect and the Michigan Achievement Scholarship, including free community college.
* Continuing the Working Families Tax Credit which will deliver an average refund of more than $3,800 to 650,000 families.
* Rolling back the retirement tax, putting an average $1,000 a year back into the pockets of more than 500,000 senior households once fully phased in for the 2026 tax year.

Biggest Deal in MI History to Fix the Damn Roads

roads

My administration has fixed a total of 24,500 lane miles and 1,900 bridges. And we’re not stopping there.

* This year, we secured a sustainable, long-term investment of nearly $2 billion a year to fix our state and local roads.
* This deal will improve people's daily drives, keep Michiganders safe on the road, save families time and money, ensure every penny paid at the pump goes towards fixing or rebuilding the roads, and protect thousands of good-paying construction jobs statewide.

Protecting Affordable Health Care

This year, families are feeling the squeeze from rising costs, chaotic national tariffs, and economic uncertainty. In Michigan, we’ve taken action to keep our neighbors, family, and friends healthy. In 2025, we:

* Protected funding for core Medicaid services to help the 2+ million Michiganders who get their care through Medicaid.
* Expanded free contraceptive resources through Take Control of Your Birth Control.
* Erased over $144 million of debt for nearly 210,000 Michiganders across the state by working with Undue Medical Debt.

Supporting Students, Boosting Literacy

ed

This year, we increased per-pupil funding by $442 per student, totaling $10,050 for every kid, in every school. That’s the highest per-student investment in Michigan’s history, and we did it without raising taxes. In 2025, we also:

* Fed all 1.4 million public school students free breakfast and lunch, helping kids focus, teachers teach, and saving parents time in the mornings and about $1,000 per child each year.
* Doubled enrollment over last year in Michigan’s pre-K for All, with 56% of Michigan’s four-year-olds now in free pre-K. Free pre-K sets every child up for a lifetime of success while saving parents more than $14,000 a year.
* Stayed focused on literacy to help every kid read and succeed. This year, we implemented proven science of reading curriculums, increased literacy coaches in schools, and committed to helping every student become a strong reader and writer at Michigan’s first ever Literacy Summit.

Free Community College – Lowering the Cost of Higher Education

higher ed

This year, we made sure every Michigan high school graduate can earn a skill certificate or degree tuition-free at their local community college or attend a four-year university at a reduced cost. We went further to lower the cost of higher education and expand opportunities for Michiganders by:

* Continuing the Michigan Guarantee, which has already helped 20,000 students earn their associate’s degree while saving $2,300.
* Continuing the Michigan Achievement Scholarship which has helped over 42,000 students save thousands – up to $27,500 over 5 years – as they earn their undergraduate degrees.
* Helping adults go back to school without breaking the bank with Michigan Reconnect, which has helped more than 12,000 Michiganders age 25 and older earn an associate degree or skills certificate tuition-free.
* Funding career and technical education, so more students can explore hands-on careers in trades like plumbing, welding, and more.

Economic Development

selfridgre

In 2025, we used every tool in our toolbox to grow our economy to deliver for our people, communities, and businesses across the state. In 2025, we:

* Were named a top 10 state for business for the third year in a row.
* Announced thousands of new, good-paying jobs across Michigan, from advanced manufacturing to dairy farming, and investments from companies that will drive growth and cutting-edge innovation in Michigan.
* Secured a new F-15EX fighter mission for Selfridge Air National Guard Base, strengthening our economy, supporting thousands of jobs and military families, and cementing Michigan’s leadership in national security and the defense industry for decades to come.

Build Baby Build More Housing

housing

This year, we took action to make sure every Michigander has a safe, affordable place to call home. In 2025, we:

* Surpassed our goal of building or repairing 75,000 homes a year ahead of schedule and upped our goal to 115,000 homes by fall 2026.
* Helped first-time homebuyers with up to $10,000 in down payment assistance.
