One of the only intelligible things Trump said in his flop of an address last night was that he was sending $1776 checks to everyone on active duty in the Military.
Warrior Dividends, he called it. What a HERO. So brave.
One problem — it’s complete bullsh•t.
That money was allocated by Congress. It was part of a $2.9 billion allocation to supplement the basic allowance for housing — money provided to help them afford their rent. Trump had to give that money out, and he’s just putting his name on the check.
That ain’t all. News just broke that the VA is eliminating 35,000 health care jobs. They left thousands and thousands of positions for doctors and nurses unfilled this year, and instead of doing the hiring and getting care to Veterans, they’re just eliminating the jobs altogether. Problem solved!
That is, unless you’re one of the vets waiting on hold, sitting in the waiting room for hours, or unable to even schedule an appointment. They’re working around the clock to strangle the VA so they can sell it off to the highest bidder and make millions off of privatization. Reliable, quality care and services for Veterans can’t stand in the way of shareholder value.
One thing you can count on: There’s always a grift. Always.
But don’t worry. There’s a reckoning coming, and it hits next November. We’re more fired up than ever to hand eviction notices to every MAGA member of Congress after we flip the House and Senate back to blue next year.
