I can’t believe it, John, but 2025 is wrapping up already.

Despite Republicans’ best efforts to shut us down, my first year in Congress was a historic one – for North Texans and Americans everywhere.

(1) I secured $22.6 million in funding for local projects in North Texas. These critical funds will increase access to pediatric care for children, improve public transportation, open new public parks, conserve and clean our water, fund research, and more.

(2) I introduced 14 bills, many of them with bipartisan support. I’m tackling urgent issues head-on by proposing legislation to improve access to healthcare, create a new pathway to citizenship, and defend our elections from artificial intelligence. I’m especially proud of my “Reproductive Rights are Human Rights Act of 2025,” which has been cosponsored by 58 other House Democrats!

(3) I served on the influential Homeland Security Committee, where I’m holding Kristi Noem accountable for disregarding the Constitution and due process (no matter how much she tries to dodge my questions).

(4) I was sworn in as the first openly LGBTQ+ Member of Congress from the South. This is a tremendous honor – but I recognize it comes with a great responsibility to represent the needs of my LGBTQ+ community from Texas and all across the South. I may be the first, but I’ll make sure that I won’t be the last.

(5) I announced my re-election campaign for TX-33 after Trump and Abbott rigged the maps in Texas. Republicans thought they could draw me out of Congress, but my work here is far from done – that’s why I’m fighting to win in TX-33, so I can keep representing the families and communities I’ve served all year.
