 Nottingham City Council has been ranked as one the highest performing local authorities in a Government review of active travel infrastructure and support.
Active Travel England – the government’s executive agency tasked with making walking, wheeling and cycling the preferred choice for everyday trips, recently published its active travel capability ratings for local authorities. Nottingham is one of eleven local authorities to achieve a 3 rating, putting it among the top councils. All eighty local authorities outside London took part in the process.
 Nottingham City Transport have rolled out their final single deck electric buses in a major milestone towards becoming a zero-emission fleet as well as towards the city's carbon neutral goals.Â
Since entering operation, NCT’s electric single deck fleet has already travelled over 3.6 million kilometres across Nottingham — the equivalent of making nine trips to the moon, or almost 90 times around the Earth. The buses have also regenerated more than 2.1 million kWh of energy, significantly reducing overall energy consumption.
With the single deck rollout now complete, NCT has placed its first order for electric double decks and The East Midlands Combined County Authority is supporting the introduction of 19 electric double deck buses at NCT with ÂŁ4.5m funding.Â

It’s just £4.50 to park all day at Broad Marsh car park on a Saturday or Sunday until 1 February 2026. That means you could head to Broad Marsh at 9am and park until 11.30pm and pay just £4.50.
 Poulton Drive and Daleside Road will benefit from new cycling and walking infrastructure that will help safely link up those on bike and on foot with the new footbridge over the Trent.
The project includes a 3-metre shared use path along the southern side of the pavement on Daleside Road, including a new planting area providing separation between the new path and the road. It's being funded by EMCCA.
