After growing up in a hardworking family of farmers, I earned a college degree, Master’s degree, a law degree, and Ph.D, becoming the most degreed member of Congress. My educational journey informed my public service and commitment to Texas. 

I got tired of seeing so many of my neighbors work hard and still not have equal opportunities. I decided to run for Congress to keep fighting for education, healthcare reform, and lowering costs for everyday working families.
