Greens are punching above our weight in Parliament, only with your 2025 year-end support.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Friend,

Despite only having one seat in the House, Greens are, as ever, outperforming other parties.

The CEO-style approach of our new prime minister has resulted in draconian legislation passing with barely a whimper. On bills forced through last week — eliminating the carbon tax, removing protection of personal information by federal political parties, and reducing refugee rights — only the Green Party is recorded as standing in opposition.

Meanwhile, the NDP has been reduced to trying to bargain with the Liberals in exchange for financial resources.

As a Green, I empathize with the NDP. The remaining seven NDP MPs are dedicated. But as Greens, we are horrified that any party would grovel to any other party just to improve their bank accounts. Equally, it is deeply disturbing that the Liberals have adopted so many Conservative policies that Conservative MPs are comfortable joining the Liberal Party, all so Mark Carney can get a majority government, with 100% of the power.

This is not what Canadians voted for only eight months ago!

I apologize for the number of emails you get from me asking for increased donations. One reason that we are not so desperate as to beg the prime minister, offering our vote in exchange for cash, is that I have two aspects of faith and hope in this difficult circumstance.

Firstly, I have faith in our democracy. That standing on principle will, eventually, be rewarded at the ballot box. Canadians increasingly see Greens as a voice of conscience.

And secondly, I have faith and hope that our supporters will dig deep so that we can meet our targeted donations for December 2025. Raising one million dollars in the month of December is do-able! And I have faith that together we will hit our target.

Federal law limits how much any individual can donate to a political party. In 2025, that limit is $1,750. Only you, individual Canadians, can fund political work.

May I ask you to consider donating your maximum before December ends? No amount is too small. December is now the moment it matters most.

Thank you.

Please share and forward this email to anyone you know who might appreciate our work, but might not be hearing from me.

I will continue to work hard, to be of service, to our communities, future generations, our country, and our planet.

With deep appreciation,

Elizabeth E. May, O.C.
Member of Parliament for Saanich–Gulf Islands
Leader, Green Party of Canada

P.S. December year-end donations to political parties are eligible for significant tax credits. For example, if you donate $100 this year, you’ll receive $75 back during tax season! If you donate the maximum amount of $1,750 this year, you’ll receive $650 back during tax season! Actual amounts vary depending on your eligibility for tax credits. [Donate today]([link removed]).
