Folks, I talk to you a lot about our lawsuits against Donald Trump — when we’re filing them and why, what they mean, and what winning them does for the people of California.
But one thing that sometimes goes under the radar is that our lawsuits are saving billions of dollars for Californians.
To date, we’ve protected more than $168 billion in federal funding that Trump tried to rip away from our communities — funding that keeps classrooms open, supports healthcare, maintains essential infrastructure, and fuels innovation across our state.
Since January, we’ve filed 49 lawsuits against Trump — suing the President more than once a week — to hold him accountable. And with each victory along the way, we’ve returned critical funding that supports our schools, our healthcare system, our infrastructure, and the research that drives our future.
And the return on these lawsuits is pretty incredible: For every $1 we’ve spent on these legal actions, we’ve restored $33,600 to the people of California.
From the moment Trump was sworn in for his second term, he came after California — targeting nearly a third of our funding in his first week in office. But we were in court within 24 hours — and we won.
Since then, the attacks haven’t slowed, but we’ve fought back every single time. We protected more than $11 billion in federal grants, stopped the dismantling of agencies like AmeriCorps and HHS, and defended constitutional rights like birthright citizenship and the right to vote.
And look, these aren’t just abstract legal fights. These are battles that impact people and families all across the state and from all different backgrounds.
When this administration targets California’s funding, its targeting people’s education, healthcare, livelihoods, and sometimes even their lives.
That’s why I will continue bringing the fight to Donald Trump and his administration in every way I can.
California needs leaders who are ready to go toe-to-toe with Trump’s lawlessness — and win. But I need your help. Will you pitch in any amount today? [[link removed]]
