Dear John, it’s Maurice Mitchell, National Director of the Working Families Party.
2025 has been one of our biggest tests ever. Immigrant communities are under constant attack by masked kidnappers. Our cities are being occupied by military personnel. And millions of families are facing food and health care crises more severe than any other time in modern US history.
But in the face of MAGA’s nonstop attacks, not one of you buckled under the pressure. We rose to the occasion and fought back.
We have taken to the streets, time and time again, to protect our neighbors.
We have won historic political victories all across the country, electing true working class champions like Zohran Mamdani, Adelita Grijalva, Katie Wilson, Shenise Turner-Sloss, and more to all kinds of offices.
And support for the Working Families Party — and our vision for a new political party that doesn’t surrender to the GOP — is higher than it's ever been.
All of that, and more, is thanks to you. And you’ll be the key to our work in 2026, too.
Not only are we going to continue to fight Trump’s agenda with everything we’ve got, but we also have spring primary elections — including WFP champions like Brad Lander, Nida Allam, and Randy Villegas — fast-approaching, and the chance to kick MAGA out of power in the midterm elections in the fall.
That’s why we’re setting an ambitious fundraising goal to close out the year strong, and be well-equipped to take on these challenges and win. Between now and midnight on December 31st, we need to raise $100,000. And I sincerely hope you can help push us past that goal.
Please make a contribution today and help the Working Families Party reach our end-of-year fundraising goal. We’re building an alternative vision of how the government should work and who it's supposed to serve, and your support gives us the resources we need to win.

A year ago, after Donald Trump’s victory left us all reeling, I wrote about the challenges we were facing, and the work we had in store for us:
Now more than ever, we must build community — to protect each other from harmful attacks, to fill the gaps where our government falls short, and to build lasting power for the future.
Because the easy response to this is to point fingers and blame voters. Or simply retreat, shut down, and tune out. But we can't wait around for the system to change on its own. Both major parties have failed working people, and it's time to build independent political power — one that centers solidarity, and focuses on winning victories that families can see and feel.
The bottom line is this: having hope is a choice.
Despite how terrifying much of the last 12 months has been, I can’t express my love and gratitude enough for how you’ve shown up for your friends, your neighbors, and strangers alike.
This movement that we’re building is proving, day in and day out, that solidarity is a verb, and it is a powerful one.
We’re proving that when we stand shoulder to shoulder with one another, not only can we hold our ground against authoritarian bullies, we can beat them.
So please, stay involved. Help keep your communities safe. If you can afford to, pitch in to support our work here. And above all else, continue to lend a hand to those around you.
Sincerely,
Maurice Mitchell
