This Hanukkah arrived under a heavy shadow. As Jews in Australia gathered to celebrate the first night of the holiday, the community was targeted in a deadly, antisemitic terror attack. We are horrified, and hearts are with the families of those killed, the many injured and all who witnessed this atrocity. J Street stands committed to combating antisemitism in all its forms.

I want to share a small story that’s stayed with me.
When I was a college student advocating with J Street U, a Jewish communal leader made a donation to J Street in my honor. At a time when the work felt heavy and isolating, it reminded me that I wasn’t alone – that someone saw the values I was trying to live out and wanted to stand beside me.
As we move through these eight nights, I’m thinking about all the people in our lives who show up – the friends, mentors, colleagues and family members who stand for democracy, dignity and a better path forward in the Middle East. And I can’t think of a more fitting Hanukkah gift than honoring them with a donation that fuels that work.
