Subject: Strike For Black Lives
Dear
John,
Black people are suffering under the triple crisis of higher fatalities and infections from COVID-19, unchecked police brutality and a rigged economy - brought on by systemic racism.
Until Black people can thrive, none of our communities can.
Across the nation, across communities, millions have lost their jobs and health care due to businesses closing in the face of a deadly virus. Millions more are forced to work without sufficient personal protective equipment or paid sick leave, which means they can't stay home if they need to isolate after exposure or care for a loved one who is ill. At the same time, we've witnessed the senseless killings of Black people at the hands of law enforcement and private citizens alike.
That's the reason why working people from across the nation and allies in the interconnected and intersectional fights for justice are standing together to Strike for Black Lives this Monday, July 20.
The National Partnership is a partner of the Strike for Black Lives. On what will be a historic day, we will unite to fight for a world where Black lives are valued and where Black workers can build economic power - with real checks on corporate power - by using our power and withholding our labor.
There are many ways to take part, even if you can't leave home or strike.
