1. As a 35th-generation New Mexican and a proud member of Laguna Pueblo, I am both of and for New Mexico. I lived the realities and struggles so many New Mexican families face: raised my child as a single mother while relying on food stamps, built my own small business to make ends meet, worked in my child's preschool to bring down the cost of tuition.

2. My own journey is what motivated me to step into service. I became one of the first Native American women ever elected to Congress and served as the first Native American Cabinet Secretary in U.S. history. I fought for working families, public lands and rural communities every step of the way.

3. Now, I'm running for governor because New Mexicans deserve better. It’s time for our children to learn to read earlier. New Mexicans deserve to see a doctor without long wait times. Groceries and homeownership should be within reach for every family. And in every community, people should feel safe right where they live.
