Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. | On Wednesday evening, the House passed the FY26 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to support military families, revitalize our defense industrial base, deter our enemies, and fulfill President Trump's Peace Through Strength agenda. The FY26 NDAA included key provisions to support the entire Louisiana military community, including Barksdale Air Force Base and Air Force Global Strike Command, Fort Polk and the Joint Readiness Training Center, and Camp Minden. Following House passage of all five bills, Speaker Johnson said, "For too long, Washington’s paralysis and partisan climate red tape has driven up costs, drawn-out reviews, and delayed construction of roads, pipelines, factories, and critical infrastructure. This week, House Republicans delivered commonsense deregulation and long-overdue reforms to repair a broken permitting system and remove barriers that have held America back." While Democrats demand that taxpayers write bigger checks to insurance companies to hide the cost of their failed law, House Republicans are tackling the real drivers of health care costs to provide affordable care, increase access and choice, and restore integrity to our nation’s health care system for all Americans.
