Port of Tacoma Commission to meet December 16


Port of Tacoma Commissioners on December 16 will consider an authorization increase related to developing a remediation workplan for Parcel 40, an early lease termination for Afar Logistics, and a proposal to conduct an independent review of the Commission Code of Governance and Conduct. Commissioners will also receive issue briefings, including the annual review of the Port’s real estate line of business, as well as the proposed 2026 Commission slate of officers and 2026 Commission boards and workgroups. Chum chucking supports salmon habitat

Last month, the Port’s environmental team partnered with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians for “chum chucking,” an annual effort to restore vital nutrients to the waterway and support salmon recovery. Chum chucking involves tossing spawned chum salmon carcasses into the water, which helps sustain future salmon populations and supports biodiversity at the habitat site. Read more ⇒
