Email from Rep Feenstra In this week's roundup: Securing the future of the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City in the National Defense Authorization Act.     Dear Friend, In this week's roundup: Securing the future of the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City in the National Defense Authorization Act. That and more – remember to follow my Facebook page by clicking here and my Twitter page by clicking here to stay up-to-date throughout the week! SECURING THE FUTURE OF THE 185TH AIR REFUELING WING IN SIOUX CITY BY PASSING THE NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT On Wednesday, I voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives passed, the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act, which sets defense policy for our country annually. I’m especially excited that the NDAA includes my work to authorize construction of a new runway, aircraft parking apron, and a warmup/holding pad for the KC-135 Stratotanker at the Sioux Gateway Airport, which is home to our incredible 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City. This bill ensures that these projects are eligible for funding that will protect nearly 1,000 jobs, promote continued economic growth in the region, and strengthen our national security. Since being elected to Congress, I have worked to secure the future of the 185th, ensuring that the men and women who keep this unit running can continue to support our communities, respond to disasters, and defend our state and nation. By authorizing these critical projects, we are honoring the hard work of the Iowa National Guard, protecting almost 1,000 jobs, and growing the local economy. Replacing Iowa Air National Guard's Sioux City runway included in defense bill - Radio Iowa The project to replace the Sioux City runway that's being used by the Iowa Air National Guard's 185th Refueling Wing is included in the defense spending bill the U.S. House approved Wednesday. Congressman Randy Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, said it will protect over a thousand jobs at the Sioux Gateway Airport. Read More CHATTING WITH U.S. SECRETARY OF LABOR LORI CHAVEZ-DEREMER It was great to see my friend Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer and talk about President Trump’s work to grow U.S. manufacturing and invest in American workers. I also highlighted my bill to prepare young Iowans for successful careers and help small businesses recruit and retain skilled employees. MEETING WITH IOWA STATE DIRECTOR FOR USDA RURAL DEVELOPMENT, MIKE SEXTON I enjoyed talking with my friend and new Iowa State Director for USDA Rural Development, Mike Sexton, as well as the Deputy State Director, Henry Kummerer. I appreciate their commitment to serving Iowa and look forward to working together to grow our rural communities! THANK YOU TO PRESIDENT TRUMP FOR SUPPORTING OUR FARMERS! President Trump is an incredible friend to Iowa farmers, and this week’s announcement of immediate farm relief is welcome news for Iowa agriculture. Under the Biden administration, we had a massive agricultural trade deficit and skyrocketing inflation, which is still taking its toll on our commodity markets. This relief will help bridge the gap between Biden’s failures and President Trump’s work to invest in rural Iowa and support agriculture, which I helped lead through the Working Families Tax Cuts. President Trump’s historic work securing beneficial and fair trade deals for Iowa agriculture will level the playing field, produce economic gains for our producers, and strengthen the farm economy. I look forward to continuing to work with President Trump to support our farmers, lower inputs costs, and open new export markets for agriculture. MAKING CROP INSURANCE MORE AFFORDABLE AND ACCESSIBLE FOR IOWA FARMERS Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture formally finalized the Expanding Access to Risk Protection (EARP) rule. This action expands access to affordable crop insurance, cuts burdensome red tape, and bolsters the farm safety net. It also includes implementation of my Crop Insurance for Future Farmers Act, which lowers the cost of crop insurance for young producers and was signed into law as part of President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts. I applaud President Trump and Secretary Rollins for strengthening crop insurance for our Iowa farmers and producers. Crop insurance is a critical tool for Iowa farmers that must continually be defended and modernized, ensuring that Iowa agriculture can withstand the financial impacts of unpredictable natural disasters and disease outbreaks. I will continue to work with President Trump to lower costs for Iowa farmers, open new export markets, and grow our agricultural economy. PROTECTING THE SOLVENCY OF SOCIAL SECURITY I appreciate the National Taxpayers Union for calling my Save Our Seniors Act a "practical budget reform" to keep Social Security solvent. Thanks to wasteful spending under the Biden administration, Social Security is closer to insolvency. We must protect Social Security for our seniors! Practical Budget Reforms Take Center Stage at House Budget Committee Member Day The House Budget Committee's recent Member Day hearing offered a window into the growing appetite for strengthening the federal budget process. Lawmakers from across the conference laid out a series of reforms aimed at improving transparency, enforcing fiscal discipline, and restoring long-term accountability. Read More PRESIDENT TRUMP'S WORKING FAMILIES TAX CUTS ARE JET FUEL FOR OUR ECONOMY! President Trump's Working Families Tax Cuts made strong, pro-growth tax policies permanent. This permanence brings manufacturing back to Iowa, creates good-paying Iowa jobs, and encourages business investment and growth. The Working Families Tax Cuts are jet fuel for our economy! ONE LAST THING: REMEMBERING THE BRAVE AMERICANS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES ON DECEMBER 7, 1941 84 years ago, more than 2,400 brave Americans lost their lives on December 7th, 1941. May we never forget their service and sacrifice in defense of our great nation. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: SECURING THE FUTURE OF THE 185TH AIR REFUELING WING IN SIOUX CITY On Wednesday December 10th, I voted for, and the U.S. House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed, the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
