TELL CONGRESS: Trump seized a Venezuelan oil tanker off the coast of the Latin American country, his most severe military escalation to date against Venezuela. This drastic act brings the U.S. closer to a regime change war not long after reports of Pete Hegseth’s “kill everybody” order, a potential war crime. Sign the petition: Investigate Pete Hegseth for war crimes and block Trump’s war with Venezuela!

Trump seized a Venezuelan oil tanker off the coast of the Latin American country just days ago — a drastic military escalation against Venezuela and President Nicolas Maduro.1 The White House has brought the United States to the very brink of all-out war. Trump says ground operations could begin “very soon” against Venezuela.2

70% of Americans don’t want this regime change war.3 But that’s not slowing down the White House. Trump also hasn’t been deterred by damning reports that Pete Hegseth’s “kill everybody” order on a September 2nd boat bombing constitutes a potential war crime.4,5

There are no signs that Trump or Hegseth are slowing down their march to war. That’s why Senators Tim Kaine, Rand Paul, and Adam Schiff introduced an urgent, bipartisan war powers resolution to block this war. And a vote is happening in the House on Monday.

Sen. Schiff spoke on the importance of stopping this war and reasserting Congress’s authority over warmaking. He said, “We are being dragged into a war with Venezuela without legal basis or congressional authorization, and the Senate must be prepared to stop an illegal war that would needlessly place at risk thousands of American servicemembers. Americans do not want endless war.6

Congress needs to immediately investigate Hegseth’s potential war crimes and pass a war powers resolution to stop Trump’s drive toward war with Venezuela.
