The Environmental Protection Agency — the agency that is supposed to protect our water — proposed a new rule that can only be called the "Polluted Water Rule."

Under Trump, the EPA wants to hand corporate polluters exactly what they’ve been asking for: permission to dump waste and destroy wetlands with little to no oversight.

We both know that this is another Trump giveaway to massive corporations. But if we don’t speak up, Trump will claim he’s "giving the people what they want." We need a massive outcry to make it crystal clear to everyone: this is all part of his agenda to enrich billionaire CEOs.

Instead of protecting our rivers, streams, and wetlands, the EPA’s proposal strips away safeguards from waterways across the country, ignores the health and economic costs to communities, and even invites polluters to request more loopholes. Early estimates warn this rule could result in the loss of up to 80% of wetlands nationwide, a critical part of our waters’ defenses against flooding, pollution, and drought.

If enacted, the Polluted Water Rule would lead to the destruction of wetlands, worsen water quality, and put the health of our communities — and the drinking water they depend on — at risk.

At the exact moment when we need stronger protections from flooding, toxic contamination, and extreme weather, Trump’s EPA is siding with polluters instead of public health.

We can’t let this giveaway to polluters get buried. The louder our opposition, the better chance we’ll have to make sure everyone knows that Trump – yet again – is putting billionaire CEOs ahead of all of us.
