At the end of this year, the Affordable Care Act tax credits that many people who get health care through the ACA marketplace receive to offset the costs of their plans will expire.
Without those subsidies, health care costs will skyrocket for millions of Americans, including 400,000 Virginians. I’ve heard from countless constituents about the hardship this would create for their families — who are already struggling with high prices on everything else, from their groceries to their mortgages to their heating bills.
Protecting affordable health care is a top priority for Senate Democrats, so we proposed a three-year extension of the ACA tax credits. A clean bill — no agenda other than helping Americans afford their health insurance. 78% of the American public supports this!
But Republicans voted it down.
Failing to extend these credits is a betrayal of the American people, and we will remember next November.
With the GOP refusing to work across the aisle on issues like health care — issues that the American people absolutely deserve meaningful progress on — it’s become crystal clear that the only way to deliver real relief for our constituents is to win big in the midterms next year and retake Democratic control of Congress.
I’m ready to do everything I can to support my colleagues running for re-election, like Mark Warner, and to elect strong Democrats across the country who can defeat Republican senators and flip critical seats.
If you’re with me, now’s the moment to step up and help us lay the foundation for a blue wave next year. Chip in any amount, and let’s take back the Senate in 2026.
