If misogyny feels louder and harder to outrun, it’s because it is. It’s in
our feeds, our workplaces, our doctors' offices, our politics. It’s not
your imagination. It’s the patriarchy pressing in.
Women face constant harassment, especially online.^[ [link removed] ] Speak up, and the
attacks get worse.^[1] For women journalists, activists, and organizers,
it hits even harder. Most have endured digital abuse, and many have faced
real-world threats because of it.^[ [link removed] ]
Still, when women and feminists name what’s happening, the response is the
same old script: calm down. You’re imagining it. It’s not that bad. We
can’t let their gaslighting make us doubt our experiences.
