This #FeelGoodFriday, we want to share a happy moment from our recent Flying Eye Hospital project in Kumasi, Ghana—one made possible thanks to supporters like you.

Six-year-old Afia had lived with severe eye misalignment since she was just a few months old. Her mom, Gifty, told us Afia struggled to focus in school and was falling behind in her studies. But through it all, she stayed cheerful and active, with a dream of becoming a doctor one day.

During our recent project in Ghana, Afia received sight-aligning surgery in both eyes by Volunteer Faculty Dr. Carlos Solarte. The next morning brought a moment her mother will never forget: “When she opened her eyes, I was so happy I wanted to shout! She looked at her face in the mirror and she smiled, and I was so happy.”

Gifty shared a message for our supporters: “We are really grateful for this kindness towards us. God bless them and let them flourish.”
