Dear Friend,
Healthcare tax credits through the Affordable Care Act have helped thousands of hardworking Americans afford the care they need.
Without immediate action by Congress, these cost-saving tax credits will expire at the end of the month – meaning people’s healthcare premiums will skyrocket.
In South Jersey, 24,000 people will see their healthcare costs rise. A 60 year old couple will see their premiums rise by $14,471 and an average family of four will see their premiums rise by $10,665, according to the House Budget Committee Minority.
You deserve better. I have joined every single House Democrat in demanding a vote on a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act tax credits by signing a discharge petition. A discharge petition allows Members to bring a bill to the floor for a vote without the Speaker of the House. If just a handful of Republicans sign this discharge petition, the House will be able to vote to stop these premium hikes.
