 Dear Neighbors,
As your state representative, the safety and well-being of our community are my highest priorities. Given the uncertainty caused by the Trump administration and increased ICE operations in our neighborhoods, I am hosting a town hall meeting to connect directly with community members on the topic of public safety. We'll be meeting at the Frogtown Community Center on Monday, December 22nd from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
Our communities are being terrorized, and members of my beloved Somali-American community are being detained for simply being who they are. I am angered by the abhorrence and blatant racism. As I shared in Newsweek, Trump’s anti-Somali remarks have fueled fear and confusion, with many terrified to go about their lives. Our neighbors are afraid to go out to the grocery store, and they’re afraid to send their kids to school. Read the article here.
Every American deserves to go about their daily life without the constant fear of being targeted by federal agents, free from the threat of racial profiling and political persecution. We must reject any agenda that uses fear and division to subject neighbors and law-abiding citizens to unfair scrutiny and intimidation.
Now is the time for us to stand united and continue to show up for our community. Staying informed, prepared, and engaged is of utmost importance as we navigate these challenges together. I hope you can attend the town hall.
If you have any questions ahead of time, please do not hesitate to contact my office.
 Sincerely,
Rep. Samakab Hussein
Minnesota State Representative (65A)
