Â
We are a little more than 100 days until the November elections, and the
news is neverending. In light of that, here are three stories you may
have missed this past week: Governor Cuomo and his fans took a victory
lap over his COVID-19 response, even though the death toll in New York
is the highest in the nation. One journalist is speaking out and holding
him accountable, even though he works with the Governor's brother. In
West Virginia, Ben Salango, the Democratic nominee for Governor, has
repeatedly criticized the state's preparedness for COVID-19, but it
turns out he denied a request for health funding to prepare for a
pandemic just last year. Finally, in South Dakota, Governor Kristi Noem
continues to follow through on campaign promises, this time with the
expansion of high-speed internet, which will assist in getting internet
access to all South Dakotans. Read below for more!Â
CNN's Jake Tapper Eviscerates NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo's "Crowing" COVID
"Victory Tour"
What Happened:
Jake Tapper used the opening of his show earlier in the week to
eviscerate Cuomo for "revisionism" and "crowing" that is "offending a
lot of New Yorkers."Â
Why You Should Care:
Governor Cuomo has spent the past week doing a "victory tour" for his
state's response to COVID-19, even selling a bizarre poster. He has been
hitting up late-night TV and dropping in on his brother's show on CNN,
where he is guaranteed softball questions.
What Happens Next:
There is no level of gaslighting that will change the fact that
Cuomo-led New York was an utter failure, and using this time as a
victory lap is tone-deaf.Â

WV Democrat Denied Dept. Request for Health Crisis Funding Prior to
Pandemic
What Happened:
In 2019, West Virginia Democrat and Kanawha County commissioner Ben
Salango rejected a budget request from his county health department that
would have bolstered funding for health emergencies, including the
potential outbreak of a flu-like illness.
Why You Should Care:
Ben Salango is challenging Governor Jim Justice in November. Since he
won the primary in June, he has been criticizing Governor Justice's
COVID-19 response and stating he will be a governor "who can plan for
the worst." Shocker, he didn't.
What Happens Next:
Justice and Salango will face off in November. West Virginians will not
forget how the Kanawha County Commissioner said one thing, yet did
something entirely different.Â

Governor Kristi Noem Continues To Expand Access To High-Speed Internet
What Happened:
Shortly after taking office, the Governor launched the Connect South
Dakota initiative, and her administration has been working tirelessly
ever since to expand Internet access to all residents of the Mount
Rushmore State. Through the initiative, and by partnering with the
private sector, the Governor is providing South Dakota's schools with
the tools they need to prepare students for the jobs of the future.
Why You Should Care:
Expanding broadband access for all South Dakotans was a top campaign
priority for Governor Kristi Noem, and she's delivering on her promise.
What Happens Next:
Governor Noem is giving South Dakotans tools to thrive.
