Tuesday was another important day for Iowa — it was our 5th special election of 2025.

Democrat Rachel Burns ran an impressive campaign in a district where Trump won the 2024 election by 70+ percent. And while she’s not the next representative of HD-07, we still made tremendous progress.

Democrats overperformed in this district by 11 points, adding to our perfect record of Democratic overperformances in every special election this year.

We knew flipping this seat was a long shot, but this overperformance is another sign that even in the reddest districts, Iowans are ready for change.

This is the momentum boost we needed before heading into the new year, and lucky for us, we still have ONE more special election this year on December 30th.
