I won’t sugarcoat it: 2025 tested us. The attacks on church-state separation have felt relentless. As AU's president, a religious minority and a parent, I’ve felt every one of them.

But despite it all, believe me when I say I found more hope this year than I thought possible. It’s thanks to my incredible team I lead here at Americans United, and it’s thanks to you.

Americans United is making real, tangible progress in our fight for church-state separation across the country. When I look at what we accomplished this year, I see a movement that refuses to be defeated:

— 20+ amicus briefs filed.
— 12+ active lawsuits.
— 850+ state bills tracked.
— 8 significant legal case wins.
— 300 violations reported and monitored.
— 280 alumni in the Legal Academy network carrying the work forward.
— 14 new Youth Organizing Fellows – the next generation of our movement – advocating for church-state separation.

Behind every number is a real victory: a family whose religious freedom was protected, a community that remained welcome to all, a precedent that will shield others for years to come.

The attacks won't stop in 2026. But neither will we. We're rebuilding the wall of separation between church and state brick by brick, case by case, community by community.

Thank you for never giving up. I promise that we won’t, either.
