A new report details Wesley Hunt’s role in advancing DEI policies at St. John’s School in Houston — directly contradicting the message he’s now running on.
Board documents and archived webpages show St. John’s adopted a plan during Hunt’s tenure declaring that DEI would be incorporated into “all facets of the K–12 curricula and co-curricular activities.”
The vote was unanimous, which included Hunt’s approval as a trustee.
Hunt also served on the school’s Task Force on Community and Inclusion, which monitored and implemented the DEI plan.
The implementation included:
- Redesigning middle-school civics and English to include “antiracist and culturally relevant” content.
- Faculty sessions titled “Why Saying ‘All Lives Matter’ Is Offensive,” “The Difference Between Nonracist and Antiracist,” and discussions tied to the George Floyd protests.
- Recruiting and hiring practices explicitly targeting “underrepresented populations.”
- A “Banned Book Week” highlighting gender identity and LGBTQ materials.
Hunt has built his campaign on opposing these policies. But his record shows he supported them when the authority came.
Texans deserve the truth. This story raises direct questions about judgment, consistency, and transparency — especially in a primary where voters are comparing conservative records.
Help ensure Texas continues to be represented by someone with a documented record of opposing DEI mandates, not enabling them.
