 Patriot– Obamacare is an abject failure. For years, Washington promised that Obamacare would make health care more affordable. Instead, American families are stuck with skyrocketing premiums, shrinking options, and coverage that fails when people need it most. During COVID, Congress doubled down on Obamacare failures and poured hundreds of billions of dollars into subsidies to hide rising insurance premiums caused by Obamacare. The COVID-era subsidies have resulted in massive fraud, including 160,000 applications that included unauthorized changes made by insurance brokers or agents. Also, over 1.5 million people making 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Level received taxpayer subsidies. Even worse, households earning up to $600,000 a year are receiving taxpayer-funded health insurance! Insurance companies also reaped the rewards, receiving hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars while raising our premiums, denying care, and making our health care system worse and more expensive. Now, Democrats and several Republicans in Congress want to continue fleecing American taxpayers and driving our nation further into debt by extending the “temporary” expanded Obamacare subsidies. This is a massive shift given how many times Republicans have vowed to repeal the disastrous legislation. If $1.3 trillion over 10 years hasn’t made Obamacare affordable, another half-trillion won’t fix it either. Call your member of Congress and urge them to end the wasteful COVID-era subsidies NOW.
