, I want to tell you about the incredible work our sister organisation, Compassion in Dying, has been doing this year.

While we at Dignity in Dying continue campaigning for a better, more compassionate law, Compassion in Dying is right there beside people as they navigate some of the hardest decisions around end-of-life care. Their specialist helpline is often the first place people turn when they urgently need clarity, support and someone who understands.

And while we all share the hope that our campaign for assisted dying will soon succeed, I want to gently remind you that this doesn’t replace the importance of planning ahead now. Even when the law changes, recording your treatment wishes will still be essential if you have strong feelings about the care you do - and do not - want at the end of life.

This year, their service has grown - they now have three specialist nurses, with Amber and Sarah joining the team and already making a remarkable difference. But as more people reach out for help, their resources are stretched thin.

That’s why I wanted to share this important appeal with you today. Compassion in Dying needs support to keep this lifeline running and to reach even more people in 2026.

Will you chip in to Compassion in Dying’s helpline fundraiser?

Your donation could make sure no one is left without expert help when they need it most.

Anything you can give will help them support more families facing some of the toughest moments of their lives. If you’d like to read more about the impact of the helpline - and meet the nurses at the heart of it - Zach’s email is below.

Thank you for your continued support,

Dear friend,

This year we've grown our helpline team so we now have 3 specialist nurses.

Amber and Sarah joined us this year and are already making a difference providing support to people when they need it most.

Please consider making a gift today in support of our helpline - the heart of our organisation.

We don't just help people with living wills (advance decisions) - we make sure they're respected and followed when the time comes.

Sarah and Amber are already providing critical support when families face some of the hardest moments of their lives. They provide expert guidance, help families understand the law, know their rights and push for what their loved one actually wanted.

A donation of any size has enormous value:

•    £3 could pay for a notice of advance decision card for someone to keep in their wallet
•    £25 could pay for five living will packs to be sent in the post to people who need them
•    £100 could pay for a specialist nurse to answer the helpline for a day
•    £250 could pay for a nurse to deliver training to NHS hospital staff to improve their knowledge of advance decisions

With Sarah and Amber now on the team, we're reaching more people than ever before. But the demand keeps growing, and we're still limited in resources.

Your donation today can help us develop our service in 2026.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Zach Moss, Digital Manager
