Over the past few months, I’ve traveled all across Michigan – from small towns to big cities, union halls to senior centers – and the one thing I keep hearing from everybody: There’s intense anxiety and fear about the future.
It’s not just the day-to-day stress. It’s deeper than that. There’s confusion about where to turn for reliable health information. Frustration with rising insurance costs and fewer services. And fear about what happens if a loved one gets sick – and the health care system has been gutted.
And over and over again, the word that keeps coming up? Chaos.
Not just in rising medical costs. Not just in insurance paperwork. But at the very top – in Washington – in the agency that’s supposed to guide public health in America.
Because let’s be clear about something: The person currently leading the Department of Health and Human Services is a fringe conspiracy theorist who has no business being anywhere near that job.
Today, I’m officially introducing articles of impeachment against Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump’s appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Why? Because the man charged with protecting America’s public health is instead creating chaos: peddling misinformation, purging scientists, and dismantling lifesaving research – all while lying to Congress and undermining public trust in science itself.
Let’s talk about what RFK Jr. has actually done:
He fired the CDC director, sparking mass confusion and leaving key leadership posts vacant during a critical moment for public health.
He terminated or forced out career scientists and doctors, many of whom had spent their lives researching cancer, HIV, addiction treatment, and vaccine development.
He gutted entire research initiatives – including pediatric cancer research and mRNA technologies that helped curb the worst of the COVID pandemic and continue to hold promise for fighting cancer.
He misled the Senate under oath, contradicting known facts and misleading lawmakers about his anti-vaccine crusade.
And most infamously, he stood beside Donald Trump as he told pregnant women not to take Tylenol – suggesting, without any scientific evidence, that it could cause autism. The exact words? Pregnant women should “tough it out.”
Tough it out? That’s not medical advice. That’s cruelty. It’s dishonest. It’s dangerous. And it’s disqualifying.
RFK Jr. isn’t just spreading misinformation and fringe conspiracy theories – he’s using the full weight of the federal government to codify them. And Michigan families are paying the price.
I’ve talked to moms in rural counties who can’t get a straight answer about vaccine availability. I’ve met with retirees whose clinics are scaling back services because federal funding streams have been frozen. I’ve heard from families blindsided by double-digit insurance premium increases with no safety net in sight.
These aren’t headlines. They’re real conversations I’m having with real people. They’re scared. And I get it.
When I see this level of fear and dysfunction, I can’t just shrug and say, “That’s Washington.” I was sent to Congress to fight for working families – and that means holding people accountable when they violate their oaths of office.
That’s what this impeachment is about.
It’s about restoring trust in science. It’s about putting qualified professionals back in charge of our public health system. It’s about telling the truth – even if you have to stand up to the president and his allies.
That’s why I’m introducing articles of impeachment.
Because RFK Jr. has made a mockery of the office he holds. Because the consequences of his decisions aren’t theoretical – they’re happening right now, to every community I visit. And because when someone this dangerous holds power, we don’t look the other way.
We stand up. We fight back. We do what’s right.
