When PAWS rescued Nougat, a three-month-old kitten, he was barely holding on. His tiny body was crawling with fleas, his leg shattered beyond repair. At most shelters, Nougat’s future would have ended there. But at PAWS, our medical team performed a delicate amputation, then wrapped him in warmth and care.

Within days, this brave little survivor was up and zooming around his foster home—so excited that his foster said they had to leave the room just to get him to nap! Nougat didn’t just survive—he thrived. Today, he’s in a forever home, his life full of love and adventure.

Then there are Samuel and Samson, two six-year-old pups who a Good Samaritan found hiding behind a dumpster, cold, hungry, and terrified. It took plenty of patience—and a trail of cheese—to coax them to safety. When they arrived at PAWS, they were trembling with fear and in desperate need of dental surgery.

Now, surrounded by gentle hands and kind voices, they’re finally learning that humans can mean comfort. They’re part of our Help Me Heal program, awaiting surgeries and the loving homes they deserve.
