A court in British Columbia declared Aboriginal title can supersede fee simple title. Very simply, that could create uncertainty about the land title for the property your home is built on. This is far from settled because the appeals are already starting. This issue is important.
The federal government, the province of B.C., the city of Richmond and other First Nations communities are filing appeals to oppose the Cowichan decision.

And they went right to the Supreme Court to successfully argue against the original anti-pipeline legislation (and we’re back fighting the amended legislation).
This legal fight for property rights will be one of the biggest cases in Canadian history and big court fights aren’t cheap.
