John,
It used to be a trickle. Now it's a
flood. Gallup indicates that 47% of Americans now identify as
independents.
In some states, more people are
registered to vote as independents than Democrats and
Republicans...COMBINED!
Independents have the numbers. And independents want
change. But we don’t - yet - have the narrative. By fighting to
repeal closed primaries and let all voters vote, we are changing
that.
Major change doesn’t happen in a
straight line — and it doesn’t happen without a strong, steady base of
supporters who fuel the work month after month.
That’s why today I’m asking you to
become a Monthly Supporter of Open Primaries.
When you give monthly — whether
it’s $15, $35, $50, $85, $250, or more — you give us the ability to
respond quickly when a legislature suddenly moves (like in Nevada earlier this year), when a lawsuit needs to be filed, when a
ballot measure emerges, or when an opportunity appears seemingly
overnight.
This year
alone:
- Legislators in New Mexico expanded primary voting rights for
independents.
- The NYC
Charter Revision Commission considered a major open primaries ballot
measure in response to 200 independent voters stating simply “I can’t
vote in NYC elections!”
- We filed
a historic lawsuit in Maryland on behalf of 900,000 disenfranchised
independents.
- And
national figures — from Bill Clinton to Joe Manchin to Elon Musk — are
amplifying the need for political structures that include all
voters.
Momentum is real. But sustaining it
requires consistent, reliable support.
Your monthly gift ensures we
can:
- Mobilize
local coalitions.
- Amplify
independent voters’ stories nationwide.
- Produce
the videos, trainings, and educational tools that develop spokespeople
and move public opinion.
- Keep up
legal and legislative pressure where it matters most.
- Build a
movement strong enough to really win - and by win we mean changing the
game in a meaningful, longterm fashion. We don’t simply work to pass
open primaries; we work to create new coalitions that can take
advantage of open primaries!
The parties have lobbyists,
insiders, endless money and institutional validation. We have people
like you who believe that the solution to endless partisan division
and negativity is to let the people in.
Become a Monthly Supporter of Open Primaries today — and
help us build a political system where All Voters Vote and the people
are in charge.
