Rumors have been swirling for months that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem might get kicked out of Trump’s cabinet and come home to challenge Mike Rounds for the South Dakota Senate seat.

The new numbers confirm what a disaster that would be for the common-sense fight:

Mike Rounds is incredibly vulnerable, polling at just 26% support in a hypothetical primary against Noem (53% for Noem). If Noem enters, she brings the full force of the national MAGA apparatus, including a massive torrent of Big Money that will dwarf anything Mike Rounds can raise.

Noem has been part of the militarization of this country, she has overseen inhumane ICE operations in some of our biggest cities, and she even shot her own dog. Three strikes and you’re out.
