John, I’ve been unemployed before. Actually, I’ve been unemployed three times in my life.

Most politicians don’t know what that’s like, and the few that do know might even be ashamed of it. But I'm not.

Like so many Americans who experience job insecurity, I felt how scary it was to not know how I was going to pay my rent, let alone my next meal.

So when I see working families going through the same thing today, it’s personal to me. Because I’ve lived it.

Meanwhile, politicians in Congress are too busy gutting healthcare and SNAP benefits to give tax breaks to their corporate donors, instead of addressing the needs of working-class families.

I know it doesn’t have to be like this – that’s why I’ve been fighting for working-class families my entire life, and I’m ready to do the same in Congress.

But the ultra-rich are happy with the status quo because they want to keep working-class people in “their place.” So they’ll spend loads of cash to keep someone like me out of Congress. That’s why I need help from people like you, John.
