Winter won't officially start for a few more weeks, friend – but in Colorado, ski season is in full swing.
There's snow better way to get outside and witness our state's breathtaking beauty than by hitting the powder – but anyone who spends this time of year on the slopes, or relies on them to make a living, has already felt the impacts of our changing climate.
Up until a major storm last week, Colorado’s weather had been warm and dry statewide. Snowpack levels are far below average, with the South Platte at 25% of normal for this time of year. More and more, ski resorts are relying on snowmaking machines and year-round, all-season offerings to survive.

It's clear climate change isn't waiting for Washington Republicans to come to grips with Colorado's reality, so neither can we. If you agree, will you rush $5 or more now to help me win the governor's race and deliver the meaningful climate solutions Colorado urgently needs?
This isn't only a threat to our way of life or the water supply for millions across the Mountain West – it's also a huge risk to our economy, since the ski industry drives over 500,000 jobs and $58 billion in revenue each year.
But after Big Oil donors propelled Donald Trump to the White House last year, here’s what Trump and Republican leaders in Washington are doing, instead of protecting Colorado's vital outdoor economy:
•Showering the fossil fuel industry with massive tax breaks
•Scrapping environmental standards to boost their corporate donors' profits
•Gutting hundreds of billions in clean energy investments I helped pass
And it's everyday working Coloradans who pay the price.
So as the threats of climate change grow more urgent each year, I'm running to be a governor who acts with the same urgency to ensure the strength of our communities, our outdoors, and our economy.
I'm running to stop Big Polluters from raking in record-breaking profits by endangering public health and raising prices on Colorado's working families.
I'm running to protect Colorado's winter landscapes from Trump's climate-denying, greed-fueled policies for generations to come.
And I'm running because I know that, together, we can keep Colorado the best ski destination in the world. But since I'm running a people-powered campaign, I can't win in the first place without you on my team.
So if that sounds like the kind of leadership Colorado needs, friend, can I please count on you to contribute $5, or anything you can spare, today to power this campaign to victory?
