REPRESENTATIVES ESPAILLAT, VELAZQUEZ, GOLDMAN TO OBSERVE COURT PROCEEDINGS AT 26 FEDERAL PLAZA

Members to Hold Press Conference at 10:30AM

 

NEW YORK, NY – Today, Monday, December 8, U.S. Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Dan Goldman (NY-10), and Nydia Velazquez (NY-07) will observe immigration court proceedings at 26 Federal Plaza as part of their congressional oversight duties. The Members have been previously denied access to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) New York Field Office at the same location. 

Immediately following, at 10:30 am, the Representatives will hold a press conference outside 26 Federal Plaza to provide an account of their visit. The Representatives will also announce new legislation they are introducing aimed at helping to protect immigrants’ right to appear in immigration courts. 

This press conference comes on the heels of continued ICE raids at federal immigration courts across the country, targeting law-abiding immigrants attending routine court appearances.
