I’m not afraid to field — and actually answer — tough questions, John.

I think that’s a big part of why my Iowa-first message is resonating with Iowans of all political stripes, so let’s run through some of the basics:

(but if you’re in a hurry, or you’re already jazzed up and ready to win this thing, feel free to chip in a few bucks before closing this email!)

Q: Why are you running for governor?

A: The government should work for the people, period. But while partisan insiders and special interests are calling the shots, Iowans are struggling with rising costs, inaccessible health care, and a declining economy. I aim to fix that, restore oversight, and give people a reason to believe in their elected officials again.

Q: Why are you the right candidate for governor?

A: I’m focused on improving the lives of Iowa families. I’ve got a plan to bring jobs, opportunity, and prosperity to our state by investing in education, restoring government oversight, and making our state a place where folks want to live and raise their families.

Q: Can a Democrat really win in Iowa?

A: Iowans care more about what a person says and does than they do about whether there’s a D or an R next to your name. My Iowa-first message is connecting with folks because they’re tired of business-as-usual politics and hungry for a system that works for them.

Q: What is it going to take to win?

A: My team and I are going everywhere and talking to everyone. We need to build this biggest, baddest grassroots movement the Hawkeye State has ever seen.

I’ve got a plan to move Iowa forward, and I truly believe that I’m the best candidate to do it, but I need your help. Will you help put to rest any questions about our momentum by pitching in $25 right away?
