Growing up, I faced off against more than my share of bullies. So believe me when I say this: Bullying is a sign of weakness — not strength.

All of this is to say — as Democrats, we have nothing to gain by cowering in fear and letting Donald Trump and his allies bully the most vulnerable Americans. Passively accepting their torment is exactly what Trump wants. It’s what a bully wants. The last thing they expect is us to fight back.

So when Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans try to rip away your health care to make themselves even richer, you’re damn right I’m going to fight back.

When Trump illegally imprisons immigrants and legal residents in his personal ICE gulags, you’re damn right I’m not going to stay quiet.

And when he tries to blame and vilify LGBTQ+ people to distract from his own failures, you’re damn right I’m going to defend every single person’s right to live openly as who they are.

Donald Trump wants me to sit down and shut up. That’s what he wants all of us to do. Don’t give him that satisfaction.
