On Tuesday, I introduced the College Athletics Reform Act (CARA) — a major new bill to finally protect college athletes’ rights and create a fair, sustainable future for college sports.

As a former Division I volleyball player, this is personal to me. Athletes work incredibly hard and generate billions in revenue for their schools and conferences. Yet too often, they are treated as an afterthought without basic protections, fair compensation, or a real voice in the system.

CARA is a direct response to that injustice. It enshrines athletes’ NIL rights into federal law and protects against predatory agents, protects women’s and Olympic sports, stabilizes revenues for schools of all sizes, and more.

But as you might expect, this bill is already facing pushback from powerful interests who benefit from keeping the current system rigged against athletes.
